Huge traffic jam on Sinhagad-Panshet Road on Sunday

NPnews24 Online Pune: The Sinhagad-Panshet Road witnessed a huge traffic jam on Sunday due to heavy inflow of tourist vehicles. As it was Sunday, people usually go for an outing. Every year, the area sees a lot of tourists during Monsoon. 

The queue of vehicles was four to five kilometres long.  It took passengers two to two and a half hours to cross the road patch. The vehicles reached Pune around 10 pm.

From the morning on Sunday, tourists were going to Sinhagad-Panshet Road as it was a holiday at schools, colleges and offices.

A large number of tourists were coming from the fort around 12:30 pm. The tourists went to the fort early in the morning and were returning to Pune at 1 pm, meanwhile, many tourists were going towards the fort at the same time.

The number of vehicles coming from both sides went up at around 3.30 pm. Some of the drivers chose to return to Pune via Kondanpur Khed Shivapur on the Sinhagad Ghat Road.

On the route to Pune, only 25 to 30 people were traveling every minute and 70 to 75 bikes. There were four hundred and fifty two-wheelers and eighteen four-wheelers.

From around 2.30 pm to 9.00 pm, the number of vehicle went upto twenty to fifty thousand two-wheelers and eight to ten thousand four-wheelers.  Bus, rickshaws, trucks and tempo are not included in this number.
At least 75 thousand tourists came to this area. The possibility of tourists coming in lakh can not be ruled out.
The Sinhagad fort is a popular spot for people to enjoy Monsoon. People usually go there for trekking and sight-seeing. It is one of Pune’s most popular forts.
