Ahmedabad : Heavy rains observed in many districts of Gujarat on Sunday. Khambhaliya tehsil of Devbhoomi Dwarka district received 434 mm of rainfall in a day. In this tehsil, 292 mm rain fell during two hours between 6 pm and 8 pm, which flooded the areas.

Officials said that heavy rains were observed in Porbandar, Gir Somnath, Junagadh and Amreli districts of Saurashtra as well as Valsad and Navsari districts of South Gujarat throughout the day. Ahmedabad Center of the Indian Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in Saurashtra, North and South Gujarat during the next three days.

A farmer was killed in a lightning strike in Surendranagar district while one is suspected to have drowned, police said. He was traveling in a pickup van that was swept away by flood water.
According to the State Emergency Operations Center, 152 mm of rain has fallen in Ranavav of Porbandar, 120 mm in Porbandar, 103 mm in Sutrapada of Gir Somnath, 99 mm in Chikhli of Navsari and 98 mm in Pardi of Valsad.
