Hathras Rape Case : BSP Chief Mayawati Demands CBI Inquiry

Lucknow : Bahujan Samaj Party President Mayawati has demanded a CBI inquiry into the Hathras incident. Mayawati has said that the initial report of this investigation does not seem satisfactory, as well as there is tremendous resentment across the country about this case. Therefore, the investigation of this case should be done under the supervision of the CBI or the Honorable Supreme Court.

UP Police’s Special Investigation Team is investigating the case of alleged gang rape and murder of the victim in Hathras. The BSP president has expressed dissatisfaction in this investigation.

She tweeted, “There is tremendous resentment in the entire country about the Hathras heinous gang rape case. The public does not seem satisfied with initial investigation report of SIT. Therefore, this matter should be investigated by the CBI or under the supervision of the Honorable Supreme Court, this is the demand of BSP.”

Mayawati has demanded intervention of President Ramnath Kovind in this matter and said that he should bring justice to the victim’s family. Mayawati tweeted, “Honorable President of the country is from UP, and being a Dalit, there is also a strong appeal to him to interfere in this case, especially in view of the government’s inhuman attitude, to bring justice to the victim’s family.”

In recent development in case, The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has taken a tough stand regarding the Hathras gang rape case. CM Yogi has said to punish the culprits as soon as possible, setting an example for the future. At the same time, based on the preliminary investigation report, 5 police personnel including the current SP, DSP, Inspector have been suspended.

The list of these five suspended policemen includes Hathras SP Vikrant Veer, CO Ram Sabad, Inspector Dinesh Kumar Verma, SI Jagveer Singh and Head Constable Mahesh Pal. After this order, SP Shamli Vineet Jaiswal has been appointed the new SP of Hathras in place of SP Vikrant Veer.

With this, another big decision has been taken. A Narco test of the victim’s family and some other people related to the case will be done. Apart from this, narco and polygraph tests of policemen will be done. At the same time, no action has been taken on DM Praveen Kumar.
