Gujarat: Now only 100 people allowed to attend weddings and funerals

Gandhinagar : The state government has announced that celebrations such as wedding ceremonies will have to be held at a limit of less than 50 percent of the capacity of the venue but at a maximum of 100 persons in view of the rising spread of the coronavirus infection. The state government had kept the limit at 200, but as the case escalated and the Supreme Court pulled up the state government, the limit was decreased to 100 people.
Decision of the state government after the Supreme Court’s order –
1. Other celebrations such as weddings / receptions should be held at a capacity of less than 50% of the venue capacity but not more than 100 persons.
2. In case of death, a maximum of 50 persons is allowed in the final rites / rituals.
3. In cities where night curfew is in force, celebrations of weddings / receptions or other ceremonies during the curfew period are prohibited.
These decisions will be implemented across the state from midnight tomorrow (Tuesday).
In Gujarat, night curfew has been imposed in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot due to increasing coronavirus infection. Night curfew has been imposed in Ahmedabad city till December 7. The Ahmedabad Police Commissioner has issued a notification stating that there will be a night curfew in Ahmedabad till December 7.
