Good news for DJs; Raj Thackarey supports DJs and music systems this Ganeshotsav

Ganesh Festival is been celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout India. But if you talk about Maharashtra, Ganesh Festival is celebrated uniquely and music is an important part of this celebration, without music the celebrations miss the essence of the festival.

On September 14, Bombay High Court imposed a ban on playing DJs and music systems on Ganpati celebrations. The reason behind the ban was noise pollution. And, to protest regarding which, citizens including mostly Ganesh Mandal workers carried a silent protest in Pune on Sunday.

The citizens especially Ganesh Mandal workers are not really happy with this decision of the court. The ban on DJs and music systems has given a topic of discussion among and everyone is trying to give their opinions on this decision of the court.

Some are also saying that the decision was taken to hurt the sentiments of Hindu religion while some politicians are taking advantage of this.

On this, MNS President Raj Thackeray said, “If Maharashtra Ganeshotsav Mandals want to play DJs and music systems, then there is no harm in it.”

Raj Thackeray on Monday morning met some Mumbai based DJ owners to discuss on this matter and supported the DJs and music systems to be played during the 10-day Ganesh festival.

However, the proceedings of this case are still under process in the court and its next hearing is postponed to September 19. Therefore, all the DJ owners should wait for further hearing. But, the Ganesh Mandals are not ready to stop and are desperate for the decision of the court.

High Court’s verdict on September 14:

  • The state government has asked for time till September 19th to give a verdict on this. The further hearings on this case will be conducted on September 19.
  • The sound of DJs and music systems cannot be ignored during the festival.
  • High Court imposed a ban on the DJs and Dolby during Ganapati Festival since it caused noise pollution. Also, the court has asked the government asking whether playing such music systems is valid or not.
