Girl-students banned to enter the school for applying Mehendi

In a shocking incident a applying mehandi on forehead to school going girls landed them in trouble, as the school authorities retrained them entering school and asked them to rejoint the school after the mehandi turned fade. Agitated parent approach the school and recited Hanuman Chalisa.

The incident took place in Gujarat based Queen of Angels School at Varddala village near Bharuch had directed the girl students who applied Mehendi on the occasion of ‘Gauri Vrat’ to stay at home till the colour completely fades off, which has led to resentment among the guardians. After the incident, MLA Dushyant Patel also ran to the school.

Recently, in the Gauri Vrat which is also known as Jaya Parvati Vrat, girls had applied Mehendi on hand. Then, in the Queen of Angels school in Vad-dala village near Bharuch, the girls have been instructed to not attend the school till the color of the Mehendi fades away.
After that, Bharuch’s Hindu organizations and guardians ran to the school. Bharuch’s MLA Dushyant Patel had also came to the school. Applying Mehndi has proved dear to the students of Queen of Angels Convent School who are barred from entering the campus. Agitated parents of the students are protesting by reciting Hanuman Chalisa against the ‘unjust’ directive and have staged a protest outside the school premises.

The parents said the children being sent back is humiliating and also their studies are suffering. A local BJP MLA Dushyant Patel has also met the school authorities questioning why the students have been kept out. He alleged that similar matters have cropped up in the past as well about which a complaint will be lodged to the Education Ministry. Vishwa Hindu Parishad has also intervened into the controversy and has joined the protests demanding immediate inclusion of students and also asked the school administration to give it in writing the reason why the children were not allowed to attend classes. However, the school has refused to do so.

In these five day’s Vrat which is known as Gauri Vrat, the girls observing the vrat are not supposed to consume anything during the daytime barring water. After the sun sets, they are allowed to have their dinner comprising chapatti and sabzi, cooked without salt. Keeping the demand of unsalted food during this period, the market gets flooded with unsalted banana wafers in particular.

Each girl during this celebration is seen with an earthen pot called jaavar, where they sow seven types of seeds, mainly cereals and lentils. However, in today’s market, jaavars with saplings are readily available; one need not to put that much effort.
