Former airline staff rescued from sex racket in Camp

The officials of the social security cell (SSC) of Pune city police Crime Branch on Wednesday rescued a 24-year-old woman from a prostitution racket.

Police have arrested an agent who had a booked a room at a four star hotel and used to deal with customers. Based on complaint from policeman Tushar Alhat, an FIR has been registered with Bundgarden police station against the agent Ganesh Bhim Bishta (36), a resident of Vadgaonsheri.

According to police, the woman hails from Madhya Pradesh. Earlier she worked as ground staff with a private airline company in New Delhi. However , after loosing her job she got into prostitution to support her family. Bishta used to deal with customers and book rooms in reputed hotels before sending her, police said.

After getting tip-off a team led by police inspector Manisha Zende raided the hotel room and rescued her.

Police have arrested the agent for offences under relevant sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act. Assistant police inspector Khedkar is further investigating the case.
