Earthquake in Maharashtra & Jammu-Kashmir, Intensity On Richter Scale Close to 3.0

Mumbai : Within just 4 hours, mild tremors were felt in 2 states of the country. First there was an earthquake in Palghar in Maharashtra and then in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir. However, at both these places, the intensity on Richter scale remained close to 3.

Earthquake tremors occurred in Palghar, Maharashtra at 12.26 pm. The intensity was 3.1. After about three and a half hours, an earthquake also occurred in Jammu and Kashmir. Earthquake tremors struck Katra, Jammu and Kashmir region at 5.11 am.

Earlier, tremors were felt in several areas of Tibet and Nepal late on Wednesday. A strong tremor of 6.2 magnitude was felt in the Xiang area of Tibet. The earthquake was so severe that it was also felt in many areas of Nepal.
