Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s birth anniversary: Traffic arrangements changed in Vishrantwadi, Aurora Towers and Dandekar Bridge areas
Pune : NpNews24 Online – Pune Traffic Update | The traffic arrangements near Pune railway station, Aurora Towers, Vishrantwadi and Sinhagad Road junction (Dandekar Pul) have been changed because of the birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambekar on April 14. DCP (Traffic) Vijaykumar Magar has urged commuters to use alternative roads.
Thousands of citizens arrive in a procession to pay their respects to the statue of Dr Ambedkar. Since there is a huge rush of senior citizens on the roads, the traffic arrangements near the statue of Dr Ambedkar have been changed. Only emergency service provider vehicles (fire brigade, police and ambulance) will be allowed to operate on the roads.
The road going from Shahid Amar Shaikh Chowk to Maldhakka Chowk and collectorate will be shut and commuters should use the road going from RTO Chowk to Jehangir Hospital. The road from GPO Chowk to Bolhai Chowk will be closed and commuters should travel through Kirad Chowk to Nehru Memorial Marg. Traffic from Narpatgiri Chowk to Maldhakka Chowk has been closed and commuters should pass through Kamla Nehru Hospital, Pavle Chowk, Kumbhar Ves Chowk to their destination. The road fromBannerjee Chowk to Shahid Amar Shaikh Chowk should be closed and commuters should travel through Kumbhar Ves Chowk to their destination.
The change will be applicable on Thursday from 6 am till evening.
Commuters should park their vehicles on SSPMS Ground (two-wheelers and four-wheelers), Tukaram Shinde parking lot near Pune station (two-wheelers and four-wheelers), Sassoon Colony (two-wheelers).
The road from Koyaji Road near Aurora Towers going to Pune station will be stopped at Teen Tofa Chowk and will be diverted to SBI Chowk. The road from MG Road towards Arora Towers will be kept closed and commuters should travel by Batliwala Bagicha Road.
Commuters should park their vehicles on Taropore Road, East Street and pay and park areas on other roads. The change in traffic arrangements near Aurora Towers will be on Friday from 6 am till evening.
The traffic will be diverted in phases to closed or alternative routes. Commuters going to the airport and Tingre Nagar should travel by Sadalbaba Chowk, Chandrama Chowk, Alandi Junction-Ambedkar Chowk-Golf Club Chowk-Yerawada post office chowk-509 Chowk.
Commuters travelling from Kalas, Mhaske Vasti, Bopkhel, Dighi and Alandi to Pune should travel by Kalas Phata, Chavan Chawl, Shanti Nagar, Tank Road to Khadki or travel by Mental Corner to their destinations.
Changes in traffic arrangements in Vishrantwadi will be from 3 pm till evening on Friday.
The changes in traffic arrangements at Sinhagad Road junction (Dandekar Bridge) will be from 8 pm on Thursday till the crowds disappear. Processions would be taken out on these routes and the traffic will be diverted via closed or alternative roads, said Vijaykumar Magar in a press release.
