Dance teacher held for repeatedly raping 13 yr old step daughter

A 29-year-old man has been arrested by Pune city police for allegedly raping his 13-year-old stepdaughter repeatedly for the last 10 months.

According to police, the incident took place between November 2017 and August 10 this year. The accused threatened to kill her mother and then sexually abused her.

Senior police inspector Mohan Shinde, in-charge of Sangvi police station, said, “The incident came to light when the girl confided in her teacher in school. Accordingly, a counselor was approached and we were informed. We have arrested the accused stepfather for offenses under sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.”

Police officials said that the minor girl has been staying with the accused since 2015. The accused runs a snacks stall at an IT company. He is also a part time dance teacher.

Assistant Police Inspector Alka Sarag, who is investigating the case, said, “The accused has been arrested. A special court has remanded him to five days police custody. Further investigations are going on.”
