Approval for the makeover of Lal Mahal

The much waited decision of the historical monument has got thumb up finally on Tuesday before the Standing Committee of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved for the makeover of the Lal Mahal.

Historic Lal Mahal in Pune holds a special place as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has spent his childhood memories with his mother Jijabai. The mahal has been approved for makeover.

The makeover of Lal Mahal. Plaster, coloring, Kaularu Design Roof and many improvements will be done to the interiors.

The standing committee has approved Rs 50 lakh for the plan to renovate the structure of Historic Lal Mahal. The project has of makeover and repair has been undertaken for the purpose of conservation of  Lal Mahal and this project will also boost tourism in India.

The structure was originally built in the 1640s and was captured by Mughal leader Shaishta Khan in 1663 AD. During this attack Shivaji Maharaj sliced off Khan’s fingers.

The four umbrella shaped structures on the roof is the prime attraction and the garden there is also named after Jijamata.
