CoronaVirus Fact Check: Is It Killed Using Dettol ? !

San Francisco: On Monday, a post on social media went viral very fast and it said that Dettol’s spray could completely kill the deadly Coronavirus.  People started sharing posts and requested each other to keep Dettol at home. This information was spreading like wildfire. Eventually, the company itself had to come forward and tell about it.

An American user shared a Facebook post. In this post, he claimed that Dettol’s spray can completely eliminate the coronavirus. The user also posted a photograph of the spray. The label on the back of the spray bottle said that it could eliminate the ‘cold virus’ i.e. coronavirus and other respiratory viruses RSV. After this, Dettol’s company Reckitt Benckiser (RB) had to come forward and give a statement.

After this, the statement was issued on Monday by RB. “RB is aware that many speculations are being made about Dettol’s products and Coronavirus.” The company further said, ‘This is a deadly disease and RB, like all other companies, does not yet have the technology to test new viruses. As a result, we cannot yet confirm how effective our product is against this new virus.”
