Controllerate of quality assurance celebrating golden jubilee on 02 November 2018

NPNEWS24 ONLINE – It is matter of great pride that Controllerate of Quality Assurance (Engineering Equipment) is celebrating it’s 50^th year of existence since raising, Golden Jubilee on 02 November 2018. On 01 November 1968, Chief Inspectorate of Engineers (CIE) had come into existence after bifurcating from R&DE(E).

Controllerate of Quality Assurance (Engineering Equipment), earlier known as Chief Inspectorate of Engineers; was established with the primary role of ensuring the Quality & Reliability of engineering equipment for defence. Prior to this, the Inspection Production Group of R&DE (E) Engineers was responsible to discharge this function. CQA (EE) is organic to Director General Quality Assurance, New Delhi.

The Controllerate has a dual role to perform. In addition to its role for Quality Assurance, Quality Surveillance, Audit of Ordnance Factories stores and User Interaction, CQA(EE) holds drawings and specifications for more than 9000 engineering equipment inducted into services and therefore, it is also known as Authority Holding Sealed Particulars (AHSP). As an AHSP, the Controllerate is responsible for up gradation of Defence Specifications, Capacity Assessment of Vendors, Post Procurement Services such as preparation of QAP, Test Schedule, Evaluation of Advance Sample, User interaction, User trial, NCNC trial, Investigation of Failure etc.

To commemorate the occasion, a Technical Seminar on “Quality Evolution Through Time” is being organised on 02 November 2018 at CQA(EE), Aundh Camp, Pune 411 027. A Technical Journal and Coffee Table Book will also be released on this day. The Golden Jubilee year marks a milestone in the history of Quality Assurance fraternity functioning under Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence.
