‘Chutia’ Not A Slang But Her Surname, Says Assam Woman After Her Job Application Rejected Repeatedly

Guwahati : Any person gets his surname after his birth, like from his parents, family, or community. But a woman’s surname has become a problem for her in Assam and that is why her job application was turned down.

In fact, Priyanka, a resident of Guwahati, was trying to fill the online application for a job in the government company National Seed Corporation Limited (NSCL), but due to the surname Chutia, the website and software were rejecting her application.
Priyanka wrote on Facebook that her job application in a government company is being canceled repeatedly because the website is saying to use the correct surname, which is actually her real surname.
Although Priyanka kept trying again and again, she got frustrated because the software was rejecting that surname and telling them not to use slang. After this, Priyanka took out her anger on Facebook. She said that due to the surname, wherever she goes in the interview, people start laughing at hearing her name first.

After complaining privately to NSCL, her job application was accepted on behalf of the company. Significantly, there is a tribe in Assam whose surnames are Chutia and Sutiya. This tribal community living in Assam is originally considered a descendant of the China-Tibetan family of Mongolia.
