Chinese Researcher on Verge of Making Significant COVID-19 Findings Shot Dead in US

New York : Coronavirus epidemic that spread from Wuhan city of China has caused havoc all over the world. In such a situation, most countries are pointing fingers at China, but China has been denying its role in spreading the virus. Now after the murder of a researcher associated with corona disease, questions are again raised. A Chinese researcher who had reached close to making an important discovery on the Coronavirus has been shot and killed in Pennsylvania, USA. This was said in media reports on Wednesday.

According to the Ross Police Department, Professor Bing Liu (37) of the University of Pittsburgh was found dead Saturday in his home in Ross Township, northern Pittsburgh. He had bullet marks in his head, neck, torso and arms and legs. Investigating officers believe that a 46-year-old man found dead in his car shot and killed Liu and then returned to his car and committed suicide.

Investigating officer Sergeant Brien Kohlep said that the police believe the two men knew each other, but there is no indication that Liu was killed because he being a Chinese.

The university recalled the research work of Liu, condoling the incident. Peers from the University of Pittsburgh said, “Liu was close to make important discoveries towards understanding the cellular mechanisms associated with SARS-Cov-2 infection. He was very talented and hard-working.”
