China lifts hold, Azhar designated global terrorist

Npnews24 online: After the fourth consecutive time, china failed to blocked JeM chief Masood Azhar, as global terrorist are now finally listed into terror list. In a major diplomatic victory to India, Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Azhar was on May 1 designated as global terrorist by United Nation Security Council (UNSC) 1267 Al-Qaeda sanction committee.

JeM claimed responsibility for deadly Pulwama terror attack that had martyred 40 of security personnel. Listing comes after china lifted technical hold, placed on March 13, and sponsored by the United States, United Kingdom and France.

This time US, UK and France had, this time around, stepped up pressure on Beijing by taking the issue directly to UNSC. Though China exercise veto power as a permanent member of the UNSC, Beijing had staunchly opposed the issue to be taken to the apex UN body as it had to public explain its stand on its reservation to list Azhar.

This diplomatic move will help present government to boost their election campaign in near future.
