Child’s foot stuck in iron rods of drainage; rescued by firefighters

While people are celebrating their freedom and Independence all over the country, a tragic incident has created a state of distress in Navi Peth area of Pune. In this incident, 11-year-old boy’s feet got trapped in Iron rods of a drainage system besides the road.

The boy was returning from the school when the accident occurred. It took near Hero Honda Showroom in Navi Peth area, Pune on Wednesday at around 8:30 am. The name of the school is still not known.

The people nearby immediately called the fire brigade. Soon after which two vehicles of fire brigade was sent to the spot. The brigade firefighters, with team spirit and efforts, pulled out the child’s foot which was trapped in the iron rods. The boy’s feet were trapped up to his knees and was bleeding.

According to Nilesh Mahajan, a leading fireman from the control room told NPnews24 that, “We reached the location promptly as soon as we got the information; we immediately sent two vehicles of fire brigade. With the help of a spreader, which is used by the soldiers of the brigade during such crisis we spread the iron rod and helped rescue the child’s feet out of the drain. The whole rescue operation was successfully carried out in 5 minutes. We did not delay much to reach the location as the spot of the incident was near to our office.”

The wounded might have got a fracture in his legs, such is being suspected by the rescue and brigade team. The boy was in severe pain was taken immediately to the nearby hospital by his father.

This Independence, people go crazy and misunderstand their freedom, the citizens need to be alert and careful today at the same time. As you never know, your enjoyment on Independence day might turn into a disaster.
