Child Development Officer dies by suicide in Bhandara

BHANDARA: A 28-year-old child development project officer died by suicide at her residence in Lakhni on Saturday, the police said.

The deceased has been identified as Shital Ashok Phalke, originally from Satara and currently residing at Lakhni. She had been working at Lakhni since June 30, 2017.

According to the police, Shital’s mother found her dead in the bathroom around 5:45 am on Saturday. The mother immediately lodged a complaint with Lakhni police station. Upon searching the house, the police recovered a suicide note. The note mentioned that she was attempting suicide at her own will and asked her mother for forgiveness.

Shital had been under stress for the last few days, said her co-workers. Some people saw her crying but she did not mention the reason to any of her colleagues.
