Chennai’s god Karunanidhi no more; citizens shattered

The hero, the champion of Chennai, Muthuvel Karunanidhi, a five-time chief minister of Tamil Nadu and the DMK president for 50 years, took his last breath in Kauvery Hospital, Chennai. He died at 6.10pm on Tuesday at the age of 94.

“With deep anguish we announce the demise of our beloved Kalaignar Dr M Karunanidhi at 6.10pm on August 7, 2018. Despite the best possible efforts by our team of doctors and nurses to resuscitate him, he failed to respond. We profoundly mourn the loss of one of the tallest leaders of India and we share the grief of family members and fellow Tamilians worldwide,” Kauvery Hospital executive director Dr Aravindan Selvaraj said.
His mortal remains are kept in the Rajaji Memorial, Tamil Nadu for the people to pay homage. Also according to sources, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has reached Chennai for the Condolence, for which special security measures have been taken by the state.
The citizens of Chennai are completely devastated after getting the news of their beloved god Karunanidhi’s death. The whole state of Chennaj is in a shock. All the private shops have been closed down and the supplies of the food have gone down.
The TN government has declared an official holiday on Wednesday followed by a seven-day mourning in the state to pay him respect, love and gratitude. The people are in a state of grief as there is a huge crowd outside the memorial in which remains of the former CM’s remains have been kept.
Strict actions are being taken by the police now to control the crowd of Chennai as they are out bursting with emotions and conducting  rallies and riots. People have been prohibited by the police to get out of their houses. And people have been stopped by the police to leave their houses at any cost.
The outsiders in the state, are facing a lot of problems. The Hindus specially are being strictly prohibited to stay indoors. There is massive dispute also going on between the ruling and opposition parties in TN.
A localite of Chennai said, “He was the man of our state. As a political leader he has done a lot for the state, for us. And we are not able to bear the fact that he is no more with us. We were already upset since he had been admitted in the hospital on July 28.”
Cause:
The champion had been suffering from a urinary tract infection, fever, liver complications and other health ailments owing to old age. In December 2016, he had been admitted to hospital three times and was under treatment since past six months.
He had undergone Tracheotomy which involves creating an opening in the windpipe to enable proper breathing. It is after this that he requires a tracheo tube replacement every six months. In 2017 he had been admitted at Kauvery Hospital in Chennai where he had undergone the same minor procedure.
Despite he suffering through a lot, he had been very active and sporty, he met new people and politicians including PM Modi and was doing good for the state since past few months
 There is a huge crowd gathered to pay homage to the champion and leader including all the celebrities like Amitabh Bachhan and other politicians. Every Indian is expressing their grief in their own ways.
There is no clue as to when the citizens of TN will stop their out burst of emotions. In an hope for the champion to find his peace, we can hope for the public, who loved Karunanidhi deeply will find their peace too!
