CA, CS, ICWA qualifications will be equivalent to a postgraduate degree, says UGC

Candidates who qualify for the Chartered Accountant (CA), Company Secretary (CS) or Cost and Works Accountant (ICWA) exams will now be treated equivalent to postgraduate degree holders, according to the University Grants Commission (UGC). The UGC has taken this decision mainly on the appeal of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and other institutions related to it.

ICAI said that this decision will not only help CA students to get higher education. Rather, they will also be able to reach the global level easily. In his tweet, ICAI CCM Dheeraj Khandelwal stated that the UGC has recognized the qualifications of CA, CS, and ICWA as Post Graduate degrees.

“This recognition will leverage the company secretary profession across the globe, giving the members of the institute an opportunity to pursue PhD in Commerce and Allied Disciplines,” it said in a release.

In fact, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has released the schedule of CA June exam-2021 for the foundation course. The details of the exam students can be seen on the ICAI website icai.org. According to the notification released on this site, CA will be in the May exam on June 24, 28, and 30. Apart from this, the date sheet of CA Intermediate and The final Examination has also been released.

The CA Intermediate examinations will begin on 22 May and the final examinations will begin on 21 May. Apart from this, the intermediate exams for Group-I under the Old Scheme will be held on 22, 24, 27, and 29 May.
