Pune: 18-year-old tries to escape quarantine in Erandwane, gets stuck between window grill

Pune: An 18-year-old girl tried to escape from the quarantine centre in Erandwane area of Pune city around 11.30 pm on Monday night. Photos of the incident have gone viral on social media. She was quarantined at 2nd  floor and she decided to use the window and it turned out to be nightmare for her as she got stuck between the window grill.

People rushed to the spot upon receiving information about the incident and tried to help the girl. The fire brigade was called to rescue the girl. The brigade used a hydraulic cutter to cut the window grill and rescued the girl.

Maharashtra on Monday registered 15,051 new cases of coronavirus, a day after registering over 16,000 cases, the highest of 2021, on Sunday. The fresh 15,051 Covid-19 cases today have taken state’s total caseload to 23,29,464, including 1,30,547 active patients.

Amid the surge in Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra, the Centre has asked the state to implement 14 specific public health measures to curb the spread of the disease. The measures, suggested by a central team that was deployed in the state to review the situation, focus on strict and effective containment strategy.
