Beware of Street Dogs! “Dogs and Pigs, a serious issue”- Commissioner

In Pimpri-Chinchwad city, the citizens of city are afraid to step out of their homes as street dogs are left open on streets and have become a major issue. The people of city are terrorized.

But, people have to follow court orders before taking an action on them. Also, they do not get the right contractor to catch them. This has become a major problem for city. The people are facing lot of problems said, Police commissioner Shravan Hardikar.

 On Wednesday,  there was huge argument on the street dogs and pigs left open in General Assembly. And the argument was initiated among NCP and the BJP corporators.

Shravan Hardikar said, “The nuisance of street dogs and pigs has increased in many parts of the city which is causing trouble to many citizens. The municipality is working to control the dogs. Dogs are being sterilized by Municipal corporation. Last year, 12 thousand dogs have been sterilized.There are instructions for lodging complaints on pork farming.”

He said, “Three organizations have been appointed for the sterilization of dogs. Complaints were received against the work of one organization after which the work was stopped. New organization will be appointed. Currently two organizations are working. These organizations have been instructed to work in a better way. They are not getting contractors to catch pigs for which contractor will be appointed next month. There is a reserved area for street animals in Chikhli and the area will be developed soon.

He added, “Veterinary officer Dr. Arun Dagade has been instructed to receive calls of corporators and citizens. If the instructions are not followed, then legal action will be taken against him.

Mayor Rahul Jadhav had also called Dr. Arun dagade regarding this issue.  The Mayor will also take a joint meeting of Health and Veterinary Department.

Street dog bitten people till date:

In the Nigdi’s Yamunanagar area, street dogs are creating problem since past three months. Street dogs have bitten nine to ten people. The local people have complained that their calls were not answered when they tried to contact ‘Sarathi’ helpline.

Devidas Lokhande living behind Yamuna Nagar police station, was bitten by a street dog, after which he was taken to the hospital for treatment.

For past three months, dogs created fear and panic in the area. Small children, two and a half to eight years old have been a prey of dogs nine to ten times. This has created panic and fear among the people of the area.
