Attending office on working days must for Central govt employees

New Delhi: India continues to record a steady decline in the number of coronavirus cases. In wake of this, the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions has asked all Central government employees to attend offices on working days.

India has been recording a steady decline in the number of daily new deaths since October 1, 2020, while the national recovery rate is amongst the highest in the world according to the reports.

According to the statement released by the ministry, employees who are living in the containment zones will be exempted from coming to office till their containment zone is de-notified.

According to the reports, the undersecretary and other above level officers were working in the lockdown from March 2020. The Central government asked 50 per cent of the staff to work in offices from May 2020.

The government decided on time slots to manage the safety of the workers due to coronavirus pandemic. Safety will be taken care of by the employees who are working in the offices for which time slots will be arranged for contactless working, said the ministry.

The government announced on Saturday that all government employees need to be present in their respective offices according to the new guidelines given by the Central government.

Biometric attendance would be suspended until further command. employees living in containment zones will be working from home and they have to be available on the telephone all the time in the working hours. All meetings will be conducted through video conferencing until the situation is under control and also permission is granted to open canteens in government offices.
