20-year-old falls to death while trekking on Rajgad fort

Pune: A 20-year-old youth died after falling into the valley on Rajgad fort on February 14. The deceased identified as Anurag Anil Rakshe (20), resident of Byculla, Mumbai, had come to Rajgad fort for trekking with his friends, the police said.

According to the Velhe police, a group of 16 people from Mumbai had come to Rajgad for trekking. The group trekked to the fort through the Pali gate. While taking photos near Padmavati Machi, Anurag’s walkie talkie’s battery fell into the valley. Anurag then trekked down to recover his battery. At that time, his friends warned him not to trek down and wandered around to take pictures. Anurag then slipped and fell into the valley, the police said.

After a while, upon not tracing Anurag anywhere, his friends called the police and informed them about their missing friend. Velhe police then rushed to the spot and pulled Anurag and took him to the nearby hospital.
