Atal Bihari Vajpayee in critical condition; put on life support: AIIMS

Former Prime Minister (PM) of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who won million hearts by serving as a PM, has been undergoing treatment at New Delhi based hospital for 35 days, is in a critical condition. He has been put on life support such information has been given by AIIMS (All India Institues of Medical Sciences), New Delhi on Wednesday.

Many other leaders and politicians including VIce-President M Venkaiah Naidu, who visited the BJP stalwart on Thursday morning. Also, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP President, Amit Shah reached the hospital to visit him.

The 93-year-old leader has been suffering from urinary tract infection, lower respiratory tract infection and kidney problems. He is now kept in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at CN Tower of AIIMS and is under observation by an expert team of doctors. Vajpayee had been suffering since nine months.

PM Modi reached the hospital at around 7:15 pm to visit Vajpayee. He spent about 10 minutes in the hospital enquiring about Vajpayee’s health and consulting with the doctors. Textiles minister Smriti Irani visited Vajpayee in hospital to check his condition in afternoon.
“Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been admitted for the last 9 weeks at AIIMS. Unfortunately his condition has worsened over the last 24 hours,” a press statement issued by AIIMS on Wednesday said.

His health has started deteriorating since when he suffered n heart attack in 2009.
