Amazon chief Jeff Bezos to step down as CEO, Know who’ll replace him

New Delhi : Jeff Bezos, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Amazon, is about to resign from his post. He will step down by the end of this year. Bezos wrote a letter to his employees informing them about this decision. In a letter written on Tuesday, he has said that he is leaving the CEO role in the company. He has been replaced by Andy Jassy.

According to news agency AFP, 57-year-old Bezos has announced that he will be replaced by Andy Jassy. Andy is currently the chief of Amazon’s web services. This role transition will happen in the third quarter of this year. Bezos is leaving this post after nearly 30 years.

In a blog written for his employees, Bezos has stated that he plans to focus on new products at Amazon. He explained that leaving the CEO position, he would have more time to focus on space exploration company Blue Origin as well as other side projects. However, Bezos will still be the company’s largest shareholder and will continue to dominate the company.

Amazon executive Brian Olsavsky told the media, ‘Actually Jeff is going nowhere. It is just a change in the role of people.’

Andy Jassy, who will be the next CEO of Amazon, had joined Amazon in 1997 as marketing manager and in 2003 established the company’s cloud services division AWS. Jeff Bezos said that Andy knows everyone in the company and he has been working at Amazon for a long time, he will be a great leader, I am sure.
