All Set for Lockdown 4.0? Discussion on Giving Exemption With Conditions in PM-CMs’ Meeting

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chief Ministers of all the states had a detailed discussion on Monday about the lockdown implemented in the country amid the Coronavirus catastrophe. The lockdown 3.0 will end on May 17, in such a situation, there was a question in everyone’s mind whether it can be extended. The signs that are coming from the meeting between the Chief Ministers and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are indicating lockdown 4.0 in the country. However, it will be quite different than before.

On Monday, more than 6-hour-long marathon meeting between the Prime Minister and the Chief Ministers took place. During this, the Chief Ministers put suggestion in front of the PM regarding their troubles & lockdown. Among these, Maharashtra, Punjab, Bengal and Telangana were the states which demanded to increase the lockdown. Many other states also agreed to tighten lockdown only in the red zone and containment zone.

However, if Lockdown 4.0 comes in force, then this time economic activities can be exempted with many rules. Apart from this, the states can get the right to decide this, which is being indicated.

PM asked for suggestions from states
Meanwhile, a plan has been sought from the states by the Prime Minister, in which suggestions have been sought for lockdown, keeping economic activities running and for green-red-orange zone. Many states had demanded that the power to fix the zone be given to the state.

Many Chief Ministers appeared to have differing opinions during this period, as Uddhav Thackeray said that it can be very difficult to move forward without lockdown, while Mamata Banerjee accused the Center of doing politics and said that it is important that everyone be together.

Significantly, the lockdown was announced on March 24 in the country due to Coronavirus. Which is still in force from 25 March. The lockdown has been extended three times, with the lockdown 3.0 expiring on May 17. Meanwhile, cases of Coronavirus in the country have risen to close to 70 thousand, while the figure of total deaths has reached beyond 2200.
