Air India Flight Mishap: 18 Dead After Air India Plane Breaks Into Two Parts At Calicut

Kozhikode: As per the Air India statement 17 dead, after an Air India Express plane from Dubai with more than 180 passengers on board has skidded off the runway on Friday at the Karupur airport in Kozhikode in Kerala.

While, according to the calicut district adminiatration around 123 were Injured.

Though no fire reported at the time of landing. There was 174 passengers, 10 infants, 2 pilots & 5 cabin crew onboard the aircraft. As per initial reports, rescue operations are on & passengers are being taken to hospital, said Rajeev Jain, Additional DG Media, Civil Aviation Ministry.

Dubai-Kozhikode flight X1344, a Boeing 737, had 184 passengers on board and landed at 7:41pm at the airport. According to airlines sources, it appeared to have overshot the runway. From the list of passengers, it is clear that many of them were returning after losing the job due to COVID-19& stranded tourists.

At least 24 ambulances have been rushed to the airport.
