A man installed 9 hidden cameras inside girls hostel rooms

Chennai: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE – A disgusting incident occurred after the owner of Working Women’s Hostel in Adambakkam allegedly fixing spy cameras in the bedrooms and bathrooms of the hostel was arrested.

Police arrested 48-year-old Sampath Raj, owner of the hostel, after receiving a complaint from the hostel inmates stating that there were hidden cameras installed in several parts of the accommodation, including the bathroom.

Sampath had posted a detailed advertisement on his social media account regarding vacant women’s hostel he owned in Thillai Ganga Nagar, Adambakkam in September.

The two-months-old hostel had six girls working in IT firms and one other working as a nurse, were staying in the hostel.

The girls grew suspicious about the owner after he would frequently come to the lodging area in the guise of checking the rooms and often carried out renovations in the building. This triggered an uncertainty as to whether he was fixing cameras under the name of building renovation.

After which, one of the inmates downloaded ‘Hidden Camera Detector app’ in her phone to explore the possibility of having spy cameras around. While going around the bathroom, the app detected the presence of a hidden camera in the bathroom switchboard. Distrustfully she dismantled the switchboard where she discovered the first camera.

She conveys the incident to Adambakkam police official to carry out a search at the hostel after which a complaint was filed.

While inspecting the area, police found three cameras hidden in light bulbs on the bedrooms, three on hangers in the dressing rooms and three cameras in the bathroom switchboards.

While investigating, Police also recovered 18 android mobiles and two laptops, which contained video clips of the girls.

Apparently, under the name of renovation, he kept changing the position of the camera, until he got a proper view of the particular area he wanted.
