5 women including 3 foreigners rescued from flesh trade

Officials from Kondhwa police station under Pune city police on Friday raided Thai spa center and rescued five women including foreigners who were allegedly forced in the prostitution racket. The manager of the massage-cum-spa center has been arrested.

Based on the complaint, Police Sub Inspector Priya Tilekar of Kondhwa police station an FIR has been registered against a 37-year-old woman from Nagaland who worked as the manager at Sawasdee Thai Spa located in Dorabjee Mall in Kondhwa.

Acting on the tip-off received by head constable Vilas Toge of Kondhwa police station, a team led by senior police inspector Milind Gaikwad in-charge of the police station raided the spa center around 5 pm Friday. Police had sent a decoy customer to verify the sex racket and after the raid was done. Police said that the accused used to charge Rs 2,000 for massage and Rs 3,000 for ‘extra services’.

After raiding the spa center, police rescued three women from Thailand, one from Nagaland and one from Mizoram, who were allegedly forced into the prostitution racket. The case has been registered against the spa manager for an offense under the relevant section of the Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act. The women had come here on tourist/business visa, police
