Woman shot dead by contract killers – Pune police

 

PUNE : NP NEWS 24 ONLINE – Investigations by Pune city police Crime Branch about the murder of a woman in Vadgaon Sheri on Wednesday, has revealed that the two accused are father-son who are contract (supari) killers.

This has given a new twist to the murder.

Police informed about contract killing to a judicial magistrate (first class) court on Thursday that arrested accused Shivlal alias Shivaji Babulal Rao (39) and his son Mukesh alias Monti Shivlal (19), both from Delhi, have history of contract killing. They are natives of Pali district in Rajasthan.

The duo had shot dead Ekta Brijesh Bhati (38) outside her flat in Anand Park area of Vadgaonsheri around 8 am on Wednesday. Her husband Brijesh Bhati (42) has lodged the FIR in this regard with Chandan Nagar police station.

When Crime Branch officials had gone to nab the killers at Pune railway station, as they were planning to escape with Jhelum Express, the accused Shivlal had fired two rounds at Police Inspector Gajanan Pawar, in-charge of Crime Branch unit 2. Police Naik Mohsin Shaikh had identified the duo on platform number 3 when they were going to board the train. As they were questioning them, Shivlal took out a pistol and shot Inspector Pawar from point blank range. Pawar too had a revolver but he could not took it out as the incident happened suddenly. Pawar was rushed to Ruby Hall Clinic where he has undergone surgery and his condition is stable.

The accused persons had fled from the spot. While Shivlal was chased and nabbed near Maldhakka chowk, his son Mukesh had boarded the train and caught by RPF constable Pradip Goyekar in Daund.

A magistrate court on Thursday remanded both the accused persons to police custody till November 30. Police said that they had stolen a motorcycle from Vadgaonsheri which they had used in the crime.

Now police are investigating whether Ekta’s murder is also contract killing and if there is any mastermind.
