Why the Execution Ropes from Nirbhaya’s convicts to Godse are Prepared only in Buxar Jail? ‘This’ is the Reason…

New Delhi : npnews24 : In the Nirbhaya case, after the postponement of the execution date on 22 January and also on 1 February, now the whole country is only waiting for the death of the culprits. Due to legal tricks, the fixed date for hanging Nirbhaya’s convicts was postponed once again. The Patiala House Court in Delhi last Friday stayed the execution of the death warrants of the four convicts until further orders. The hanging of Nirbhaya’s convicts may have been postponed, but all the preparations for hanging are still going on in Tihar.
The rope is the most important for the preparation of hanging, and if we talk in India, the hanging rope from Godse to Nirbhaya’s killers is prepared at one place and that is Bihar’s Buxar Jail.  Know what is the reason that the rope is only prepared in Buxar Jail for every execution in India.
Bihar’s Buxar Jail makes a rope for the executions across the country. Even in November 1949, Buxar Jail prepared the rope for the hanging of Bapu’s killer Nathuram Godse. From Afzal Guru to 1993 bomb blast convict Yakub Memon and 26/11 convict Ajmal Kasab, everyone was hanged on a rope prepared in Buxar Jail. However, it has a special and unique history and that is why the ropes for hanging are made from here.
Actually, the ropes are being made in Buxar Jail since 1880 and this tradition was started by the British rulers. After the victory in the Buxar War, when the East India Company established its kingdom from Bengal to Uttar Pradesh, in 1880, the British rulers gave a monopoly to make the hanging ropes to Buxar Jail. Four years after 1880, a machine was brought to Buxar prison in 1884 to prepare the hanging ropes.
Earlier the hanging rope was sourced from Manila, the capital of the Philippines, which is why the hanging rope is also called Manila Rope. Later, after the formation of the India Factory Act, Buxar Jail was given the exclusive right to prepare the rope and others were stopped from making it.
Here is the Reason Why only Buxar Makes the Hanging Rope –
The hanging rope is quite different from the rest of the ropes. It is soft but still very strong. The Britishers gave special authority to make Buxar district a rope because it is on the banks of river Ganges and it also has a well inside the jail which is not in any jail even today. A special type of thread J-34 is made to hang the noose.  The cotton for this thread was grown in Punjab and then sent to Buxar Jail.  But now the supplier-made thread are used.
There is a certain way to make a hanging noose. It is only made by people who are assigned this job. In Buxar Jail, there are four to five posts for this work. These people teach inmates how to make ropes.  For this, senior inmates of the jail are chosen.  This work is not given to prisoners sentenced to death.

The threads of J-34 are made of 154 threads. A rope is made by mixing six such threads. A lot of water is applied at each stage of the loop to ensure that the rope remains soft. The rule of hanging is that the culprit should die from the rope but there should not be any injury to his neck due to rope.  This is ensured at the post mortem. It would be interesting to know that many hangings can be done with a single rope, but it is not possible as the hanging is very less in India. In the last 20 years, only four convicts have been hanged.
