Why are movies released only on Friday in India? No, it’s not just because of the weekend

Mumbai : The first film to be released on Friday, Mughal-e-Azam, wrote a new chapter in the film world. The film went on to become a blockbuster film with blockbuster earnings. With this, the film became a super duper hit, winning the hearts of the audience. Friday is the day of Mata Lakshmi. So it is believed that there is success in the beginning on this day.

From the production of the first Hindi film ‘Raja Harishchandra’ released on 3 May 1913 to the film ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ (1960), there was no specific date of release of the film. However, most of the films were released on Monday. Between 1913 and 1960, Bollywood gave many best and superhit films to Bollywood.

Some people say that this trend in the Hindi film world came from Hollywood. Actually, Hollywood’s popular film ‘Gone with the Wind’ was released on 15 December 1939. This day was Friday. However, after ‘Mughal-e-Azam’, this trend started in Bollywood after which now the films are released on Friday only.

After 1960, Bollywood has given many hits to its fans. Bollywood, which started its journey with voiceless films, has now reached digital. Bollywood has seen many such changes in these hundred years.

However, there were some films which despite being good, could not succeed commercially. Mughal-e-Azam, one of the classic films in Bollywood history, was the first film released on Friday. The film was released on 5 August 1960. The film did a tremendous collection as soon as it was released.

Actually after Friday, filmmakers get the benefit of two days’ holiday, due to which more and more viewers are able to watch the film. As a result, other producer-directors were also attracted to this.
