Who Will Be New Congress Party Chief?

New Delhi: Just a few hours from now it will be cleared, who will be the next congress party head whether it will remain withthe Gandhi family or an outsider will be the congress president. The All India Congress Committee (AICC) scheduled its meeting at 11 am today in which present Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi may propose her resignation.

The party’s internal battle started soon after the 23 senior party leaders wrote to Sonia Gandhi stating that the party needs overhauling from top to bottom and there should be a new leadership who can be seen on the ground. The party is struggling for crisis after the Lok Sabha poll debacle.

On Sunday after, the news of signatory letter by 23 seniors leaders started coming out, Sonia Gandhi proposed her resignation before senior leaders stating that the party may select any other president. Soon after that, support started pouring in for Sonia and Gandhi family on the social media by the senior party leaders from across the country.

Sources said the party right now is divided into four sections – Sonia Gandhi camp, Rahul Gandhi Camp, Nehru-Gandhi Camp, and outsider. Also, Sonia Gandhi does not want to continue citing her health reasons; Rahul Gandhi does not want to take the charge.

It is also stated that if Rahul Gandhi refused to take the charge, a selection committee may also be set up. And maybe an ‘outsider’ will be the AICC chief. AICC’s CWC will be starting at about 11 am. It will be a virtual meeting where leaders will join through the Zoom app.
