The 1971 war and the birth of Bangladesh :

In 1971, the Pakistan government and army were doing injustice with their own people in East Pakistan. For this reason, the citizens were rebelling against the army. That is why, they were entering India. India was receiving threats from Pakistan.

On April 25, 1971, Indira Gandhi had told the Army chief that, If Pakistan has to teach a lesson, then you will have to fight. Then Indira Gandhi made two plans for it. It was decided to encircle Pakistan from both sides. One is to defeat Pakistan by diplomacy and secondly to teach lessons with military action. She ordered the army to be prepared for this.

In November 1971, Pakistani helicopters was coming to India. India had issued a precautionary warning to Pakistan. However, Pakistan President Yahya Khan had threatened to declare war against India within 10 days. On 3rd December, Pakistan made a mistake, which India was waiting for.

The Pak Army was bombing Indian cities from the helicopter. Then the Indian Army defeated Pakistan’s 90,000 troops. The Indian army reached Dhaka on 16th December. Pakistan’s army had to kneel down in front of India.
