A Revolutionary Childhood :

After that, Indira had many friends in the school, But she always likes to stay away from them, instead of talking to them, in her school life.

 

Nehru was always busy in the freedom struggle and he had to go to prison for most of the time. So, Indira used to like spend her maximum time with her parents.

16-year-old Feroze proposed to 13-year-old Indira :

The important facts of the personal life of Indira Gandhi and Feroze have been exposed in the book- ‘Feroze the forgotten Gandhi’ written by Bertil Falk. Senior Congress leader Natwar Singh has written a review of this book. In that review, he wrote that Indira Gandhi had met Feroz at the age of 13 years. At that time, Feroze had proposed several times to Indira, but it was not possible to see the age of both.

 

Then they both met in Paris. After that, they started meeting many times and the couple decided to marry. Both of them studied in London in the same college. They have decided to marry but, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru opposed to this relationship. Indira got married in the year 1942, when the Chale Jao movement started in India, even after her fathers oppose.

 

 

The second-longest-serving PM :

Indira Gandhi served as Prime Minister from January 1966 to March 1977 and again from January 1980 until her assassination in October 1984. This made her the second longest-serving Indian Prime Minister after her father.

 

 

Indira Gandhi’s last speech :

Indira Gandhi held a speech just before the elections, on the afternoon of October 30, 1984. Suddenly, she started speaking in a different way, Instead of reading the original speech.  At that time Indira said, I am here now, but there is no assurance of tomorrow, I am not worried whether I am there or not.

 

I am proud of my life as I have spent the whole life in people’s service and I will continue this service till my last breath. When I die, I can say that every drop of my blood will invigorate India and strengthen it. After this, Indira returned to Delhi. On October 31, 1984, two bodyguards of Indira Gandhi, Satwant Singh shoot her, and in this way, India’s most powerful PM, First woman PM of India, Iron Woman of India took her last breath.
