UAE-Israel Peace Deal Escalates Pakistan’s Troubles Amid Tensions With Saudi Arabia

New Delhi: Pakistan’s foreign policy, which has spoiled relations with Saudi Arabia over the issue of Kashmir, is now in new trouble due to the UAE-Israel peace agreement. In a recent interview, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has completely ruled out the possibility of establishing a relationship with Israel.

Irman Khan said in the interview, “Our stand has been clear from day one and Kaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had said that Pakistan cannot accept Israel until the people of Palestine get their rights.” There is no diplomatic relationship between Israel and Pakistan.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the foreign minister of the Imran Khan government, which completed two years in power, disappointed Pakistan’s old partner Saudi Arabia and now the UAE-Israel agreement has increased the trouble for Pakistan.

Qureshi criticized Saudi Arabia for not supporting Pakistan in a TV interview on the first anniversary of the abolition of Article 370 granting special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir by India. Expressing displeasure over not calling a meeting of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation on the Kashmir issue, Qureshi had said that he would ask Imran Khan to call a meeting of those Islamic countries himself who are with Pakistan on the issue.

Riyadh was very disappointed by Qureshi’s statement that Pakistan is forced to repay a premature debt of $ 1 billion. It is under pressure to return one billion dollars loan. Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa who had rushed to Saudi to solve the issue was not given time to meet by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan’s greater interaction with Turkey could also spoil its relationship with Saudi, as the President of Turki wants to make himself the greatest leader of the Muslim world. Pakistan’s powerful army is also not happy with Qureshi’s statement. In any case, the army wants to improve relations with Saudi.

Meanwhile, the situation has become more complicated for Pakistan after the UAE-Israel peace deal. Pakistan has traditionally been heavily dependent on Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Iran has criticized the deal, Pakistan also said it would have far-reaching effects.
