Two policemen suspended for taking arrested builder to home instead of jail

PUNE –NP NEWS NETWORK- Taking a stern action against two policemen who had taken a builder to his home instead of Yerwada Central Jail after hearing in district court on November, both cops have been suspended. Their misdeeds was caught by people who have been cheated by the builder who tailed the vehicle to his house after the hearing.

The suspended policemen are Police Naik Namdev Dadabhau Dagle and constable Kamlesh Balasaheb Patil, who were posted with the court company.

Builder Deepak Yashwant Patil (52) of Dharti Infrastructure has allegedly duped Ravindra Kumavat of Kalyaninagar to the tune of Rs 3.5 crores by selling him flats in Baner for which there was no permission from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). In 2014, Kumavat had registered FIR against the builder with Bundgarden police station and he was arrested on charges of cheating and forgery. Currently he is lodged in Yerwada Central Jail and he is brought to the court during hearings.

On November 3, after the hearing got over the two cops took Patil in his car to his house in Karishma Society, Karve Road. The complainants informed the police control room which sent beat marshall from the Alankar police station to get them. The builder and the two cops were taken to Alankar police station which sent a report about the incident to higher ups.

Accordingly, DCP (headquarters) Swapna Gore suspended the two policemen on Tuesday. During enquiry it was also revealed that they had brought out one more accused from jail without authorisation.
