Two friends on a morning walk killed by speeding vehicle

The deceased have been identified as Archana Shrishail Sanmath and Anita Shivaji Shinde, both residents of Anand Nagar. Many residents of Junction and Anand Nagar go for a morning walk on Baramati-Indapur highway and Junction-Walchand Nagar highway.
The work of constructing the Sant Tukaram Maharaj palkhi highway between Baramati-Indapur is going on. Many vehicles also ply on the highway at high speed.
When Archana Sanmath and Anita Shinde were walking on the service road of the Baramati-Indapur state highway on Wednesday, a speeding heavy vehicle hit Sanmath from the rear killing her on the spot and injured Shinde.
Shinde succumbed to her injuries while she was being treated in a hospital. The Walchand Nagar police immediately launched an operation to trace the heavy vehicle. API Vikram Salunkhe of Walchand Nagar police station is investigating the incident.
Archana Sanmath and Anita Shinde were friends and they used to regularly go for a morning walk. One of their friends used to accompany them but today, she did not go for a walk. A pall of gloom has descended on the Anand Nagar-Junction area because of their deaths.
