Two ADGs Will Be Appointed Soon Amid Tension On LAC, ITBP To Strengthen Organizational Preparedness

New Delhi : In the midst of tension over the LAC, the ITBP is trying to strengthen organizational preparedness. The aim is to better and strengthen coordination on border management. The appointment of two ADGs is being undertaken in the ITBP. These posts have been vacant for a long time. A senior official said that ADG currently has three posts in the force. Only one ADG has been appointed and two posts are vacant.

The officer said that there is no officer in the ITBP from its cadre in the rank of ADG and departmental promotion committee meetings are pending in this regard. But after the tension on the border, there is a need to fill the vacant posts of officers soon to establish better coordination in their command.

Significantly, in October last year, the Union Cabinet had approved the formation of two Commands. In June, ITBP ordered operations of its two newly sanctioned commands in Chandigarh and Guwahati. It deployed troops along the 3,488 km long Line of Actual Control (LAC) along China. The Western Command will get control of ITBP appointments in the northern frontier at Dehradun. Under which are Shimla, Dehradun and Bareilly sectors. At the same time, North West Frontier Command was shifted from Chandigarh to Leh in April last year and it has Srinagar and Ladakh sectors.

Officials said that the ADGs to be appointed would be equivalent to Lieutenant Generals in the Army.
