This monsoon difficult to travel on road to Sinhgad Fort

NPnews24 Online Pune : Only days are left for the Monsoon to arrive but the repair work of road to Sinhgad Fort, about 25 km from Pune, is yet to be over. Hence, it will be difficult for people to drive on the road leading to the fort.

Before the start of the monsoon, the Public Works Department (PWD) began the repair work of the road as well as set up an iron nets in landslide prone areas and to construct security walls on both sides of the road.

Due to cold war between the forest department and PWD, all these work have been going on at snail’s pace. Since the last two years, both departments are doing the work step by step. The traffic to the fort was closed for several months to repair the road. This led to the construction of a cement concrete road. So, going to the fort has become pleasurable.

Though the work of concrete road was completed, repair of tar road is yet to be done. However, in the next two days, the work will be started for road construction. Similarly, security walls are being raised using iron grille on both sides of the road. Also, the materials for the trapping of nets in the low lying areas have been found. There is a need to complete the installation of the nets before the arrival of monsoon. It will be difficult to complete the work in rainy reason.

PWD officials said that they are doing the work on war-footing and assured that all works will be completed before the monsoon.
