Suitable facilities for women in ‘ANUSUYA’ breastfeeding center

An Anusuya breastfeeding center has been opened for women devotees who visit the temple situated in the heart of the city with their infant kids on the first floor of Late Laxmibai Dagdusheth Halwai Dattamandir. This might be the first temple in Pune which provides this facility.

The Anusuya infant breastfeeding center was opened on the occasion of Shree Krishna Jayanti by Late Laxmibai Dagdusheth Halwai Dattamandir trust which enters its 121st year.  Mayor Mukta Tilak, Co-religion commissioner Dilip Deshmukh, deputy commissioner Rajesh Chavan, Dagdusheth Halwai Sarvajanik Ganpati trusts’ president Ashokrao Godse, Dr. Shankar Todkar, president of the Datta Mandir trust Shirish Mohite, executive trustee B.M.Gaikwad, treasurer Adv. Shivraj Kadam Jahagirdar, the festival in charge Chandrashekhar Halwai, Ulhas Kadam, trustee Yuvraj Gadwe, Nandakumar Sutar were amongst the dignitaries present at the occasion.

Devotees visit Pune in substantial numbers amid the Ganeshotsav festival. This comprises of numerous women accompanied with their newly born kids. It is a great thing to provide appropriate and favorable facilities to these women for breastfeeding their children which has been created by the trust through the Anusuya Center cited  Mayor Mukta Tilak.

Dilip Deshmukh said; the trust has initiated this action as a welcoming response to the appeal made to religious centers for facilitating breastfeeding facilities for women.  He further said that this is the first of its kind center in Pune and other religious centers should also come forward to provide such facilities.

Dr. Shankar Todkar said that the mother’s milk has the cure to 75% of diseases in children. Working women today are seen to stop breastfeeding earlier than usual which is unnatural. Ashok Godse said that there is a huge market nearby Dagdusheth Datta Mandir and women especially with their newborn kids and infants face a major challenge due to an impasse. The Anusuya center is a great effort towards resolving these challenges of the women.
