Strict action against those violating covid-19 protocols

Pune: Police have cordoned off 42 places to enforce the curfew after the city administration has imposed night curfew till February 28 two days ago. Police are taking stringent action against those wandering between 11 pm and 6 am and violating Covid-19 protocols.

Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta has ordered stern action against those who travel without masks to curb the spread of coronavirus infection. Accordingly, Pune police and traffic cops have taken action against 902 unmasked pedestrians on Tuesday and recovered a fine of Rs 4,46,000 from them.

So far, 2,28,560 people have been fined for not wearing masks and for violating COVID-19 protocols and police have recovered a fine of over Rs 11 crore.

In Pune district, the rural police on Tuesday took action against 793 people for not wearing masks and collected a fine of nearly Rs 2 lakh. While, the district administration has taken action against 913 people, mostly in Maval taluka and collected fines of Rs 2.98 lakh.

Pune Divisional Commissioner in a press conference announced that the schools and other education institutions will remain shut till the end of February to rein the spread of coronavirus infection.
