Shiv Sena will hold Chief Minister’s post for 5 years : Sanjay Raut

Mumbai : Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday said the chief minister’s post in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra will remain with the Shiv Sena for a five-year term and it is something on which no “compromise” can be made.

Shiv Sena, one of the BJP’s old allies in the state, had left the saffron party on the issue of sharing the chief minister’s post and formed the MVA government in 2019 with rivals NCP and Congress.

Speaking to reporters in Nashik, Raut said, “The chief minister’s post will remain with the Shiv Sena in the MVA government. This is a commitment and this post cannot be shared. There will be no compromise on this.”

Raut was actually reacting to Congress state president Nana Patole’s remarks. Patole had said that the Congress will be the largest party in the state after the 2024 assembly elections. Raut said that a video is viral on social media, in which it is being said that Patole wants to become the Chief Minister.

“There is nothing wrong in wanting to reach any position. Many leaders are contenders in all the parties. Many leaders in the Congress are also capable of leading the country.

Raut said that the MVA is an alliance of three such parties, which have different ideologies.

Responding to a question regarding election strategist Prashant Kishor’s recent meeting with NCP chief Sharad Pawar, the Rajya Sabha MP said Kishor has met many leaders and has also worked for Narendra Modi.

“If all the opposition parties come together to take on Narendra Modi in 2024, then what is wrong in it,” he said.
