Shashi Tharoor misquotes Mirza Ghalib’s poem

NPnews24 Online: Shashi Tharoor misled over the date of Mirza Ghalib’s birth anniversary and authenticity of poetry he had attributed to the famous 18^th century Urdu and Persian poet.

He received some friendly advice from award-winning poet and lyricist Javed Akhtar.

Javed Akhtar widely regarded as an expert on Urdu poetry, told Mr Tharoor that the person who supplied him short peon he had tweet should “never be trusted again”.

ऐ ख़ुदा मेरे दोस्तों को सलामत रखना

He had posted a Hindi tweet consisting of six lines of a poem he thought and written by Mirza Ghalib to mark 220^th birth anniversary.

Ghalib is an all-time favourite, but today is not his birthday. I was misinformed. Relish the lines anyway!
