Sharad Pawar says “Central Govt. interfering in state matters” after BJP leaders get security cover from the Center

Kolhapur: While speaking to the media in Kolhapur, where NCP President Sharad Pawar had arrived to unveil a statue of Yashwantrao Chavan, the sculptor of modern Maharashtra, said, “It is very wrong for the central government to provide security to the leaders whose security has been reduced by the state government after full consideration. This is an interference in the authority of the state government”.

He further taunted that due to this decision, the leaders (former Chief Minister Narayan Rane and BJP state president Chandrakant Patil) whose security arrangements were reduced by the state government will get a good night’s sleep.

Rural Development Minister Hasan Mushrif, MLA Rajesh Patil, MLA Chandrakant Patil, former MLA KP Patil and AY Patil were present on the occasion.

Pawar said that the decision to reduce security was taken by the state government on the basis of reports from senior police officials. He stated, “It is funny that the Center is providing security to them. I was surprised too. This demand may have been made by the concerned leaders”.

Earlier, the Maharashtra government had reduced security cover of BJP leaders including former CM Devendra Fadnavis, UP governor Ram Naik and had withdrawn security cover of state BJP President Chandrakant Patil and Former CM Narayan Rane.
