Sex racket busted in Viman Nagar, 3 girls rescued

Pune – The social security cell (SSC) of Pune city police Crime Branch has busted a prostitution racket in Viman Nagar area and rescued three girls who were forced into prostitution.Police have arrested one person while three others are absconding.

Acting on a tip-off received by Police Naik Sachin Kadam, the Crime Branch raided Hotel Shri Krishna Inn in Sanjay Park, Viman Nagar, on Saturday night. Police have rescued three girls – two of them are from Sikkim and one from New Delhi. They have been shifted to a shelter home in Hadapsar.

The arrested accused has been identified as Prashant Machhindra Patil (42) of Shqahapur in Jalgaon district. His accomplices Karan Sharma, Yogi alias Monti Patel and Dinesh are absconding.

ASI Namdev Shelar from SSC has lodged an FIR against them with Vimantal (airport) police station, for offences under relevant sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act. Police Inspector Ramesh Sathe is further investigating the case.

The raid was conducted under supervision of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pradip Deshpande, DCP (crime) Shiris Sardeshpande, ACP (crime II) Bhanupratap Barge, by a team led by Manisha Zende. Investigation team included PSI Anant Vyavhare, and police personnel Rajaram Ghogre, Tushar Alhat, Sunil Naik, Rajendra Nanaware, Anuradha Dhumal, Kavita Nalawade, Rajendra Kachre, Sachin Shinde, as well as senior PI Dilip Shinde and PI Sathe of Vimantal police station.
