Mother used to taunt him for being unemployed

Sangli: In a shocking incident, a 34-year-old man killed his 60-year-old mother by hitting an iron rod on her head in Ambegaon in Kadegaon taluka, police said. The absconding accused Appasaheb Shivaji Mane, 34 (age 34, resident of Ambegaon) was arrested by Kadegaon police.

The complaint in this regard was lodged by Satyawan Shivaji Mane at Kadegaon police station.

According to the Kadegaon police, victim Janabai Mane used to live in Ambegaon with her husband Shivaji Mane and her two children Satyawan and Appasaheb. Janabai used to constantly complain about her son not working.

Janabai was washing clothes outside the house on February 2 around 3.30 pm when she started taunting Appasaheb for not working and living on her terms.

According to the information received, the accused hit his mother with an iron rod. Upon seeing this, his elder brother tried to stop Appasaheb. He then hit Satyawan and his father Shivaji Mane with the iron rod.

Both Satyawan and his father Shivaji Ramu Mane were injured in the incident. Janabai, who was critically injured, was rushed to a private hospital in Sangli for treatment. But she died on Sunday while undergoing treatment.

The suspect Appasaheb was absconding after the incident. Police arrested him at 6.30 pm on Sunday evening in Ambegaon area. Assistant Police Inspector Sandeep Salunkhe is further investigating the case.
