Rs 2 Lakh Crore Concessional Credit for 2.5 Crore Farmers : Finance Minister

New Delhi : Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman gave information about the second installment of the Rs 20 lakh crore package announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi amid Corona crisis. On Wednesday, major announcements were made for the MSME sector, after which announcements are now being made for other sectors.

The last measure announced by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in today’s press conference is, a Rs 2 lakh crore concessional credit boost to 2.5 crore farmers through the Kisan Credit Card Special drive (fishermen and animal husbandry farmers will also be include in this scheme). Concessional credit will be extended to boost farmers through Kisan credit cards. This will enable 2.5 crore farmers gain access to institutional credit at concessional interest rates. They will benefit from credit flow of about Rs 2 lakh crore.

“The special drive will be undertaken to provide concessional credit to PM-KISAN beneficiaries through Kisan credit cards. Fishermen and animal husbandry farmers will be included in this drive. 2.5 crore farmers will be covered and will benefit from credit flow of Rs 2 lakh crore,” says Nirmala Sitharaman.
