He as the RSS Canvasser

He being a BJP stalwart, also he was also a part of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. During the occasion, his association increased with many organizations as well as many people. Among them Baburao Kivalkar, Saraf Haribhau Nagarkar, Aba Abhyankar of the Sangh, Sridharpant Phadke, Babasaheb Purandare, Dr. Arvind Lele, journalist KPP Bhavishikar, journalist KT Kulkarni, lawyer Baba Bhide, Aarti Harip, He was in contact with many people like Chitale Bandhu of Hotel Shreyas and his associate Mohan Dharia in Janata Rajyavati.
A huge public meeting at Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s Sampa Mahalaya for campaigning for the Janata Party, and also the memorandum of lyric poem, Atal Ji’s speech was still remembered by the villagers. Atalji was also a BJP leader and an RSS pracharak. On this occasion, they got links with many organizations and individuals in Pune.

Political happenings under his leadership in Pune

Many activists and leaders from the opposition party were friends with him. He was a respectable personality among everyone. He used to conduct political meetings at Shaniwarwada area, Fergusson College grounds, and SP college grounds. A huge crowd was present to hear him during the BJP camping held at SP College. His camping ended in Fergusson college. In 1984, BJP held its National Executive meeting, where Vijayaraje Shinde was felicitated by him. His speech at that meeting is still remembered by all the veteran politicians.

Supporting other leaders apart from party members

In one of his BJP campaign which ended in the Fergusson College, where he also promoted former Member of Parliament (MP) Suresh Kalmadi; he at that moment stood for the Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate with BJP’s support.

The inauguration of Dinanath Mangeshkar hospital

He inaugurated the Dinanath Mangeshkar hospital. He also visited the drought-hit region, Shirur taluka of Pune district. The hospital is located near the Mhatre bridge, Yerwada, Pune. Since it was a first computerized and technologically advanced and Former PM himself came to the ceremony. It became one of the prominently events for Pune.

His love for Journalism

In 1993, the Pune’s Worker’s Association had organized a press meet. As a fellow journalist, he donated Rs 5000 to journalists Mr. YV Krishnamurthy and general secretary Satyajit Joshi.

Addressing the masses of Daund at Gandhi Chowk

People from Daund, Baramati, Indapur, Shrigonda, came to hear him in an event held on September 2, 1986. The number of audiences was so huge, that 20 speakers were installed at the venue. BJP city president, Prakash Ji Bogawat recently claimed that this event was held to increase the party members. At this event, Atalji gave a donation of Rs five lakh for the development of the party.

Criticising Sharad Pawar

During his visit to Daund, he expressed his disappointment towards the development of the taluka. He, in his speech, took an indirect dig on Sharad Pawar questioned that even though Daund Taluka comes under the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency, why there isn’t any progress.

His stance on Khalistan Movement

The Khalistan movement took place in the year 1986. Regarding the violence and the deaths, he stated that ‘The murders do not know why are they killing. And the people when got killed never knew why they got killed. Khalistan movement was a Sikh nationalist movement, demanding an independent state for Sikhs. It took place from 1709 to 1849 in the Punjab region.
